When work is becoming overwhelming

Updated: Jan 23, 2019

Everyone says you need to change up your work routine, knock out some small things on your to-do list, ask for help, delegate more and remember you can say no to extra sometimes.

These are all great tips when it is getting overwhelming BUT I am here to tell you to...

TAKE CARE OF YOU!

ree

Get outside and go for a 10 minute walk around the block.

Read a book or call a friend at lunch.

Exercise!

Treat yourself to a massage.

Take a "stay-cation" & have no real plan. Just be.

(without checking work email)

Because when things are really overwhelming at work, it may just be because of you. But sometimes it is just part of the job. And you are going to survive. But you need to find that balance so you do not burn out.

So play hard on your days off & plan some relaxation there too. Checking your emails constantly makes you feel like you are never not working... even if you do not respond or feel like you should respond.

I promise that if they need to get a hold of you and it cannot wait.. they WILL find a way to get a hold of you,

If you work in an office & have the ability to take work home if needed/wanted. Great but only take it when you have to. Not daily. It blends the line of work and family. There should be a distinction between the two.

So take care of you. The two I have used most often in the last year is walking on my breaks or at lunch. And I would feel more alive & awake when I got back. And I have a goal of reading at least 10 books every year. I am on #6.

It can help.

Do what helps you.

You know yourself best and if you don't, get to know you. Take yourself on a lunch date. Eat alone. Go on a walk alone. Draw. Doodle. Write. Go on a hike. Get lost driving. In order to get to know what helps you balance, you have to know yourself.

Need help digging a little deeper? I will be sharing more on the things I have done to do so & maybe they will help get you thinking of you and what may help you in work and at home. Because while we may want and need that balance. They are both still a big part of your life. Many of us spend the majority of our time at work, so it matters.

Do you know you? Keep your eyes out for more to come on how i got to know me better...

Much Success,

Corynn LeeAnn
